THE IDEAL DNA THE IDEAL CITIZEN

In the contemporary western-european scenario the season of civil unrest seems to have lapsed as the (so-called) democracies have somehow made it their business to make sure that the people and its wishes are listened to.

Liberty cannot be taken for granted nevertheless. This may be the age of political correctness, however that correctness seems at times a changeable notion.

THE IDEAL DNA and THE IDEAL CITIZEN, reflect on the position of the individual within the social and political fabric it belongs to, with an enphasis on its personal freedom and how this is respected. The two works imagine an 'ideal dystopia', where individuality must be sacrificed in the name of the advancement of society. This may happen as a result of blind idealism or from the paranoia for self-preservation and self-aggrandizement of the power that be.

THE IDEAL DNA deals with issues such as the uneasiness of being asked to surrender the ultimate bastion of privacy, that of the personal DNA, for questionable motives.

THE IDEAL CITIZEN ponders the question of the civic virtues. Conformity and efficiency of a social group versus the individual and their aspiration of self actualization, whether these serve the purposes of the larger group or otherwise.
